Your ability to make effective Decisions is directly correlated to your success
We all make decisions, every day. Small, large, simple and complex, lengthy and quick they all have an impact on moving forward or not.
And yet many of us are not as aware as we could to how we go about making or not making decisions.
Success in any business is closely related to making effective decisions - decisions in a timely manner that have a positive impact.
There are many models around decision making. Here are a few to think about
Here is an emotional intelligence model - decision making requiring an ability to Problem Solve, Reality test and check your Impulse control PLUS having the necessary Self Perception/Self Awareness, Self Expression and ability to understand and communicate effectively with others.
Meanwhile here is another model to consider. The Dunning - Kruger Effect which will impact your consideration of what you don't know and need to appreciate. Afterall if you are traditional a poor decision maker and yet you belief you are a great one, irrespective of what others think - well good luck moving forward.
How about this model - The Einstellung Effect where is this case what you do know, your experiences may infact may cause you to default into inefficient problem solving grounded in a "that's the way I've always done it" mentality.
And there are a few more models I could share.
So let’s put it into perspective.
If you are a leader - you need to be able to make effective decisions consistently - it’s the nature of the role. How you go about making these decisions will ultimately dictate whether you are a great or not leader. Some say it's better to make a decision, even if it's wrong, rather than no decision at all.
It is all too common that the lack of company growth can be attributed to the in effectiveness of leadership decision making. Case in point of not making decisions about people sooner than later.
If you are in sales - your ability to make decisions will directly impact your ability to assist your prospect/client in making one. It goes hand in hand - if you like to delay - needing more information, time and comparison - guess what if your prospect is the same you will allow their process to go unimpeded.
